Michelle is originally from Australia and has also lived throughout Indonesia. She has been invited to present her work both locally and internationally. Her
presentations are engaging and interactive with themes of self-empowerment,
diversity and celebrating differences. Michelle loves to share her enthusiasm for reading and stories. She founded a literacy charity in Toronto called Raising
Readers (2006 – 2018). The initiative ran story clubs in the TDSB with a goal to
inspire reading for fun. The clubs included story presentation with an interactive art component, so where possible she still likes to include crafty activities in her presentations.

“Thank you for the presentation that you did for my Gr. 3 and 4 classes! They were very engaged by your talk and the staff commented afterwards on how much you were able to cover in one hour:  a reading from your book, some science and an art activity!!” Isabelle Hobbs, Teacher-Librarian, Chris Hadfield P.S.

“The students were engaged and excited to hear from you… Your presentation
covered themes in the book as well as your creative process and an origami
activity… your book won both votes at our program that day!”
