Veronika’s
Presentation Details
For
Grades one to three: I read from my books with children's
participation, tell the stories behind stories, show slides and talk
about the importance of imagination and perseverance.
For
Grades four, five, and six: I tell legends, show slides of the research
involved in the making of my books and talk about early civilizations
(a subject in the social studies curriculum).
My
preference is to work with Grades two and three because that is the
main audience of my books. For the presentation I need a screen,
and a
room where the windows can be darkened. Ideally I like to work
with
two classes at a time, but if a microphone is available I'm flexible.
I
also conduct sessions where students invent stories using the fairy
tale structure. Using their life experiences and their worlds as
building blocks, children create their own original stories, imbuing
them with their own personal meanings.
I
will present to: all junior and primary grades. Grades 2/3 are
the most preferable as they are the audience of my books.
Maximum
number of students per session: Two classes combined (generally about
50 students max.)
If more than 50 students, a microphone maybe required.
I offer workshops for grades 2/3/4
Maximum participants for workshop: One class.
I also offer...
Professional Development Workshops
I am comfortable in a classroom, library.
I will also present in an auditorium or gymnasium but I will need a
microphone.
I
require: Screen, a room that can be darkened (so that slides can
be
visible), extension cord and a cart or small table to place my slide
projector on.
