Since the publication of her first mystery in 1992,
McClintock has established herself as the best-known author of teen
mysteries in Canada. With bestsellers piling up, it’s a wonder
the author can keep track of the lives she’s woven together in her
stories, and yet she manages it, with key characters reappearing from
time to time. In addition to her highly popular mysteries
(including the Chloe & Levesque series, the Mike &
Riel series and the Robyn Hunter series) McClintock has a non-fiction
title (not surprisingly, also about murder) called Body, Crime,
Suspect: How a Murder Investigation Really Works.
Winner of the 2004 Red Maple Award for Hit and Run,
Norah also has the distinction of being the only author ever to have
won the Arthur Ellis Award for Juvenile Fiction five times (so
far).

Norah’s Presentation Details
My
presentations include some background details on how I got started as a
writer and a few interesting/surprising things from my
experiences. Other subjects I may cover include: constructing a
mystery, day-to-day challenges of story crafting and other
writing-related topics. I also share some idea-generating tips
and give a short reading from one of my books. My presentation
closes with a question and answer period.
I will present to grades 7 & 8.
I can be a little flexible and occasionally make an exception
with grade 6, but my subject matter (mysteries involving death) is
really not suitable to younger students.
Maximum number of students per session: 100
For larger groups, please ask first. I try to be
flexible.
I am most comfortable in a library but will consider other
venues.
I require water and, for larger groups, a microphone and
sound system.
