Marc Ngui





2011 Red Maple Non-fiction nominee





Authors' Booking Service is pleased to announce that children's illustrator Marc Ngui is now scheduling visits to Ontario schools in May 2011 to coincide with the Forest of Reading festivities.    

Marc Ngui is an experienced cartoonist, illustrator, and speaker. He has given readings and workshops across the country from Halifax to Vancouver, from Windsor to Yellowknife. His roots are in the DIY/zine world in which he has been active since 1997.

His rate is $200 for one session, $350 for two, $450 for three and $600 for four. These rates do not include HST. The average time for one session is 60 minutes.


No travel charges within the Kitchener Waterloo Cambridge Guelph region. For travel outside the KWCG region the standard travel rate will apply.

Marc's Presentation Details

Marc’s presentations can be tailored to the requirements of the audience. He is comfortable speaking to all age ranges.

He is comfortable speaking about
  1. DIY (Do it yourself) culture
  2. Comics and Manga, their history and their production.
  3. Public Space, What it is and why it is important.

Each of these topics will be presented as a power point talk. If the audience size permits, a workshop element will be included in the session.
If organizers are interested in hosting workshops on these topics Marc will prepare workshop plans tailored to the age range of the audience.
Marc can also give multi-session workshops on Comics production to interested Art and Creative Writing students. These workshops will take an in depth look at the craft of making an illustrated story.

Equipment and other requirements


Flip chart or blackboard. Markers.

Laptop and projector for Power Point presentation (confirmed if required with each booking)


Specialized materials may be required for workshops, ie basic drawing equipment for the students. Marc will inform the organizers ahead of time about the specific requirements for each workshop

Marc requests that a librarian, teacher or other school representative be present throughout the presentation. 


Audience size should be limited to 60 students for a presentation/workshop, 30 students for in-depth multisession workshops.
