Guest

Authors’
Booking Service is pleased to announce that children’s and teen author,
Jacqueline Guest, is now scheduling visits to Ontario schools for the
coming school year.
Jacqueline’s fee is $250 for a one-hour
session or $350 for a ninety-minute workshop. She also requests
kilometrage
within Ontario. Please contact us to arrange a
date.
Jacqueline combines literacy and history with her
interactive presentations, which not only encourage reading, but with
the aide of many visuals and artefacts, she brings Canada’s fur trade,
the Metis culture and our vibrant past alive for students. Her
bibliography and details of her presentation follow this message.
Here’s what Principal, Shirley Guara, of Calgary, Alberta, has to say
about this author:
“I
heard nothing but excellent reviews on your presentations and workshop
from children and teachers. Our grade six team unanimously agreed that
you were the best speaker/presenter that we had ever had! Many of our
children are visual learners and your connections to the artefacts were
fascinating to them. Involving the students by dressing one of them in
the costume of the day is always something that children remember
fondly. In short, your visit was a real hit!”
Jacqueline is a
member of The Writers' Union of Canada, and so schools wishing to
invite her may be eligible for a travel and fee subsidy to off-set the
cost of her visit. For details of this program, please contact us.
Jacqueline is also a member of the Writer’s Guild of Alberta, Canadian
Children’s
Book Centre, Literacy Alberta and the Young Alberta Book Society.
Time
slots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so please contact
us early if you are interested in booking Jacqueline Guest.

PRESENTATION DETAILS: JACQUELINE GUEST
Jacqueline
Guest combines literacy with history is a highly visual interactive
presentation that has teachers and students asking for more. An
intriguing over view of her novels has students lining up to sign the
books out, while her historical presentation with artefacts ranging
from native toys to buffalo teeth and beaver pelts, transports students
back to the days of Canada’s Fur Trade and the hearty Metis Voyageurs
who were the backbone of the fur trade. The multi-cultural aspects of
the presentation impart a simple, but important message- tolerance and
understanding of diversity is what makes Canada the best country in the
world! Her final words of wisdom: READ TO SUCCEED!
WORKSHOPS:
Jacqueline
Guest’s workshops move at the speed of light, encouraging students to
put pen to paper and write from the heart. Writing exercises range from
whimsical to practical with students given licence to let their
imaginations soar.
Descriptive writing combined with clinical
elements such as the proper way to package your product to get a
publisher’s attention ensure students learn the secrets of
beating-boring-basics, jump-starting ideas, and wild-ride-writing!
Jacqueline's
interactive presentations appeal to students in all grade levels and
are of interest as they incorporate her own background as she shows how
the Metis people are a strong part of the fabric of Canada’s history.
She also teaches writing how-to’s and encourages children to follow
their own literary dreams.
