Diane
Haynes

Authors’
Booking Service is pleased to announce that young adult author Diane
Haynes is now scheduling visits to Ontario schools this school
year. Diane
would love to plan a visit to your school or library. Her rate is
$250.00 per session, plus travel.
Diane's
wildlife rescue novels for teens may be the first books ever to
incorporate the groundbreaking work of animal welfare science and the
little-known world of wild animal rehabilitation into the traditional
adventure novel format. Her presentations are equal parts innovation,
passion and motivation, engaging teens and inspiring them to take a
stand for something they believe in. Diane’s bibliography and details
of her presentation follow this message.
Here’s what Teacher Catherine
Bentivoglio of Académie de la Moraine has to say about this author’s
work:
“I’ve
been looking for this type of novel for over two years, one that
integrates science and environmental awareness into a novel. Thank you
for finally producing this book!”
And from a review in CM Magazine
by Teen Services Librarian Jen Waters:
“Flight or Fight
is an adventure story with fine Carl Hiaasen-like eco-warrior
qualities. [The climax] scene is nothing short of genius on Haynes’s
behalf.”
Diane
is a member of The Writers' Union of Canada, and so schools wishing to
invite her may be eligible for a travel and fee subsidy to off-set the
cost of her visit. For details of this program, please contact us.

E.B.
White said, “Every day I wake up determined both to change the world
and have one hell of a good time. This sometimes makes planning the day
quite difficult.” With a flair for the theatrical and a passion for her
subject, my wildlife rescue series combines a Nancy Drew-like mystery
with a present-day eco-adventure—all set in Canadian locales. Through
story, discussion, animal imagery and writing, I connect directly with
teens who want to make a difference in the world around them—as
individuals, in the classroom, and in their communities—and I help to
show them how. Best of all, everybody has a good time!
