Authors’ Booking Service is pleased to announce that
children’s author Brent Sherrard is
now scheduling visits to Ontario schools for the coming school
year.
Brent would love to plan a visit to your school or library.
His rate is $200.00 per session. There are no additional costs for
transportation or other expenses.
Brent’s first two novels, Wasted, and Final Takedown, are part of the
Sidestreets Hi-Lo series for reluctant readers.
Here's
what educator Laura Kendall had to say when Brent visited Oromocto High
School:
Wasted (2009)
Final
Takedown (2010)
I begin my presentation with a discussion of why and how
I became an author, emphasizing the importance of imagination.
A short reading follows, with a passage that is selected
specifically to lead into a discussion on some of the issues that are
important to teens, including the role peer pressure plays in forming
choices and opinions, fitting in while maintaining individuality, and
being true to yourself. Maintaining an upbeat atmosphere
throughout, audience interaction is encouraged. I conclude with
a question and answer period of ten to fifteen minutes.
At the educator’s request, my presentation can be focused primarily on
the subject of substance abuse. Please let me know in
advance.
I distribute a signed postcard to each student
