Here’s what reviewers are saying:

Small listeners have been heard to opine that the MacCheeky books are “way cool.” Parents, elementary librarians and childcare specialists would do well to listen up to these pint-sized reviewers.”Highly Recommended.

Valerie Nielsen, Retired Teacher-Librarian

The Manitoba Library Association

"A Royal Little Pest: Mine is written to appeal to children ages 4-8, grades pre K -2. Its charm and punch is enhanced by delightful whimsical illustrations and capitalized outbursts that brim from every page.”*****/5

Presentation Details

All presentations are tailored to meet the needs of the students, so as the grade levels increase, the discussions become more enriched. Anita presents to students from JK/SK through to grade 8.

Anita reads A Royal Little Pest or A Royal Little Pest: Mine, discusses the message of the story and her inspiration for writing it. She also discusses the elements of a story (character, plot, setting) and uses hardcopy manuscript to demonstrate how a story goes from rough copy to final copy. Anita uses a PowerPoint presentation to display the pages of the book as she reads.

During each presentation, Anita discusses the importance of literacy and how it relates to students’ everyday lives. Each discussion concludes with a brief insight into the world of publishing. A question and answer period closes each presentation.

Book marks for all participants, and a signed poster for the school, are handed out at the conclusion of each visit.

Author Equipment requirements: Access to a computer w/PowerPoint and a LCD projector with screen or SMART Board.

Anita is comfortable in a classroom, library, auditorium, or gymnasium. Generally, a maximum of 60-80 students is manageable at one time.
