Anita Daher

Spider's Song

Authors’ Booking Service is pleased to announce that juvenile book author, Anita Daher, is now scheduling visits to Ontario schools for the coming school year.

Her rate is $250 per session, with travel from Winnipeg, as well as accommodation and meal expenses provided by host.

Anita is a member of The Writers' Union of Canada, and so schools wishing to invite her may be eligible for an expense and fee subsidy to off-set the cost of her visit. For details of this program, please contact us.

Grade four student Jonathon from Strathclair Community School wrote to Anita after a visit:

“I liked the stories you told us. They were cool. I liked the story of La Ronge where the fire was. My favourite stretch was ‘the roll.’ I liked how we did the speed writing, and made the map.”

Linda Collins from the Pahkisimon Nuye Ah Library System in northern Saskatchewan says of a recent tour:

“Anita came to the North and captivated both students and teachers alike…She was able to keep 11 and 12 year olds enthralled for more that an hour, and they didn't want her to leave; she had teachers stop her in the hallways of the school to thank her for such a wonderful presentation. I would love to have her come back again.”

Anita’s bibliography and details of her presentation follow this message.

Time slots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so please respond early if you are interested in booking Anita Daher.

ANITA'S PRESENTATION DETAILS

I  offer interactive presentations for kids grade three to six, generally lasting one hour.

For Racing For Diamonds I will pull on a Junior Canadian Rangers sweatshirt.  Presentation includes a reading, pictures, and props, as well as information about dog mushing, Canadian diamonds vs conflict diamonds, and the historic Canol Trail.

I have two presentation options for Spider's Song. One includes a reading, and discussion about emotional turmoil, self injury, as well as healthy forms of expression and release.  This presentation is recommended for smaller groups.   The other includes a reading, as well as discussion about using real life experiences, and bending them into fiction.

I will present to grades 3 to 12

Juvenile book presentation grades 3 to 6

Young adult book presentation grades 7 to 12

Maximum number of students per session: 60

I can be flexible on this, but for a larger group I will need a microphone and overhead projector.

I offer workshops for grades 3 to 12

Maximum participants for workshop: 15

I also offer...

Grade 12 Writers' Craft Workshops.

I am comfortable in a classroom or library.
