Valerie Sherrard is the author of many young adult novels, including Sarah's Legacy, a 2008 Red Maple nomination, Kate, a White Pine Honour Book, and recommended for the Violet Downey Award.  Her first novel, Out of the Ashes, was an Honour Book for the Red Maple Award and was a finalist for the Arthur Ellis Award.

Her 2007 novel, Speechless, was recently listed as one of the top ten junior novels of the year by OLA Best Bets.

Her books are frequently nominated for readers' choice awards from across the country. Other books include Eyes of a Stalker and her first middle grade historical novel, Three Million Acres of Flame.

Before Valerie became a full-time writer, she was the Executive Director of a group home for adolescents for ten years, and a foster parent to approximately 70 teenagers. Valerie travels to Ontario for school and library visits several times each year.







Marsha Skrypuch's many books range from folk tale picture books, like Silver Threads and Enough, to historical fiction for young adults, like Hope's War and The Hunger and Daughter of War. Her YA historical novel, Nobody's Child, was nominated for the Red Maple Award, as well as four other provincial readers' choice awards. Her chapter book, Aram's Choice, was a Silver Birch Express nomination in 2007, as well as being shortlisted for the 2007 CLA Children's Book of the year, and a Golden Oak nomination for 2008. Her Dear Canada diary novel, Prisoners in the Promised Land: The Ukrainian Internment Diary of Anya Soloniuk, received an Honorable Mention on the OLA Best Bets list for Junior Fiction, 2007.

Marsha has a Master's degree in Library Science and is a passionate advocate for teacher-librarians. She lives in Ontario and visits schools and libraries throughout the province.

Marsha was recently awarded the medal of the Order of Princess Olha by the President of Ukraine for her work on the Ukrainian Famine. As well, her Aram chapter books, set just after the Armenian Genocide, have been adapted into a stage play.
